New Member Platform

After a beta-testing period, the International Office is thrilled to have launched a new version of the Member Platform yesterday, developed in cooperation with MAK IT as an open-source solution.

The new platform preserves all existing data (events, profiles, session history, evaluations, applications). When you log in to the Member Platform 3.0 for the first time, make sure to click “Forgot Password” and follow the instructions to create a new password for your account.

Please keep in mind that the site is not completely bug-free and has deliberately gone online in a sort of ”rolling review” style. You can expect an imperfect, still developing platform for which you can report bugs and suggest features.

Apart from providing an FAQ document, the International Office is hosting a Member Platform Info Session on Monday, 15 November, at 17:00, during which you can ask questions and discuss the new Member Platform. To participate, register here.

Selection Reports

Since the start of the new board period, several selections for positions within EYP Austria have taken place. Whenever a selection occurs in our organisation, we create a selection report, which we then share with you to provide transparency.

To increase accessibility to all of our reports, we compile all Selection Reports, PBM Reports, General Assembly Protocols and other similar documents to which we still have access in a publicly accessible folder within the EYP AT Shared Drive that everyone with an @eyp.at email address has regular access to.

You can now view the Selection Reports for Head-OrganisersGeneral Team MembersAcademic Quality Team Members, and Understanding Europe Trainers in the aforementioned folder.

At the same time, we want to spread the word on who has been selected, so expect sections announcing the different positions and teams, starting with this newsletter!

Surfrider Eurocean’s Youth

Surfrider Foundation Europe is launching a Call for the Ocean to create a network of European ambassadors for the maritime world and will recruit 120 young Europeans from all EU Member States.

Women, men, sailors and neophytes will be trained and put in contact with experts on these two topics: shipping and jobs related to the sea. They will create a maritime network and develop a vision of the maritime world’s future during high-ranking events in 2022 (UN Ocean Conference, World Ocean Day, Ocean Decade Activity in the framework of the Ocean Decade launched by UNESCO, European Maritime Day…).

The network will meet during an immersive week with cultural exchange and experiments in La Rochelle, France, in February 2022. This week will be fully organised and covered by Surfrider Europe in collaboration with the French Ministry of the Sea and the municipality of La Rochelle.

With some Austrian candidates missing, you can still apply to become an ambassador. Find out more here.

AntiFakeNews.training | 22 November

During the AntiFakeNews.training with the Hoaxilla podcast from Hamburg, you can find out how to recognise fake news and how to protect yourself and your friends from it. This means figuring out how fake news is built up and how it spreads so quickly.

Hoaxilla is a podcast by the European Ethnologist Alexa Waschkau and psychologist Alexander Waschkau, both of whom have been working on modern legends, conspiracy myths and pseudoscience for almost 11 years.

The next training date for pupils, students and apprentices is 22 November, 19:30 CET. Registration is mandatory, so make sure to sign up!

PBM#2 Report

During each board term, the Board of EYP Austria meets several times to discuss important matters in person, with the Advisory Board also typically attending to some degree for guidance. Last weekend, the Board had its second “Physical Board Meeting” (PBM), this time in a digital format.

As with all PBMs, a report has been compiled to inform our Members of the subjects talked about there, as well as the results of modules that will have a concrete impact on the organisation. So make sure to check out the report of PBM#2 to get an insight into the happenings of the Board and EYP Austria at large! Most notably, the Board identified to-dos in line with our National Strategy, discussed the sharing of responsibilities surrounding our National Session Vienna 2022, made plans to bring this year’s guiding value “Mehrwert” to fruition, and deliberated on the cooperation with our upcoming sessions and their Head-Organisers.

Call for (a) Digital Session Head-Organiser(s)

We are delighted to hereby declare our call for digital Head-Organisers officially open. For the academic year 2021/22, EYP Austria is looking forward to organising a digital session in Autumn/Winter 2021/22 (including January/February 2022).

Head-Organising an event is a challenging, demanding and incredibly rewarding task. It gives you the chance to give an event your own personal note by shaping it from the very beginning. To support this process, Head-Organisers will be supported by and work together closely with the Board of EYP Austria.

Find the official call and application documents here. You can apply until Sunday, 7 November 2021, 23:59 CET.

We’re looking forward to your applications!
