Annual Report 2010

EYP international has had them for many years, now EYP Austria has its first one: the annual report.

Apart from the activities and events of the year 2010, the annual report also contains insights from the board, information about the new partnership with JEF, EYP experiences, or in other words “EYP by EYPers”, various pictures worth checking out and other interesting information.

Unhappily, there is only a German version available. (The annual report for 2011 will be provided in English and German!)

Summer Event 2011

On the weekend from the 1st to 3rd of July members of EYP Austria came together in Carinthia at the lake “Ossiachersee” to officially start the EYP summer season. This summer event was one of EYP Austria’s socialising events and was organised by the lovely Lia Pachler and Jelena Stevanović.

When talking about a summer event, one usually associates sunny weather, high temperatures and the sea or a lake. Summer is said to be the warmest of all four seasons with the most sunshine hours and rain is not expected to occur very often. Unfortunately, this year’s summer is not one of the best. To be more precise, it’s the coldest summer in many years.

Looking at the weather from the past few weeks, we were pretty lucky back then, at the beginning of July. We had a mixture of clouds and sunshine, a little bit of rain and the temperatures were quite moderate.

Apart from the weather we were staying in a very nice trailer park, spent a wonderful time at the lake “Ossiachersee” and had awesome evenings and nights. Check out the photos of the event to get an impression what you missed!

We can’t wait for the start of summer event 2012 and deeply hope that the weather will be better next summer.

Science Parliament 2011

From 15th to 16th of June EYP Austria organises the Science Parliament 2011 in cooperation with the non-profit-organisation ‘dialog<>gentechnik’ in Vienna.

It is not a traditional EYP event as its main aim is to bring more understanding about genetic engineering to students between the age of 15 and 19 and not the discussion of topics of the European agenda. Nevertheless, this event has the same concept as a regular EYP session, which means: there will be team-building, committee work and a general assembly in the end. Five chairpersons (of whom two are international) can’t wait to deal with those special topics and spread some EYP spirit!

Invitation: EYP Summer Event 2011

EYP Austria members will gather at Ossiacher See in Carinthia from 1. to 3. July this summer. Three days of socialising will bring together experienced EYP-ers with our newest members. We‘ll be staying in caravans enjoying the Carinthian sun and having fun the typical EYP-Austrian way.

The registration deadline is on 16. June, so if you still got no plans for this summer weekend, register now
(Download the registration form, fill it out and send it to summerevent@eypaustria.org by June 16. 2011)

First European Youth Poll

European Youth Polls is a new international project by the EYP. The Polls are opinion surveys on current European topics aimed at European youth. In addition to our events, the European Youth Polls provide another way to give young people a voice. The results are published through press releases in several countries.

The first European Youth Poll was held during the last four days. 1388 EYPers from all over Europe have taken the Poll! Topic of the first poll was the European Debt Crisis. The results are quite interesting; see the press release, respectively the full results, for details. Read more
