March Jour Fixe

As spring came upon us, it was especially refreshing to see many new faces at the Jour Fixe this time.
There were some exciting new things to be reviewed, such as the preparation meeting of the delegates representing Austria at the 69. International Session in Istanbul, the upcoming Alumni Training in summer, and the first ever Jour Fixe in Graz. Furthermore, EYP Austria is now putting more effort into the legal aspects of our organisation, a stronger regional focus as well as its relation to other National Committees by forming groups of people dedicated to work in and improve said fields.

The second part of the Jour Fixe split the participants into three working groups. We can certainly look forward to the results and hope to be seeing even more new faces in the future.

Chairs Training

Over the weekend of 17. to 18. March, EYP Austria hosted its third chairs training in six months. The trainers this time were Masoumeh Moridian and Ulla Thamm. The 19 participants of the training came from Austria, the Czech Republic and Sweden.

Some parts of the training took place outside, thanks to the sunny weather in Vienna. The training had a heavy practical focus and gave everyone a chance to put their skills into practice, as well as to exchange precious knowledge about chairing.

We are looking forward to see the trainees chairing at EYP-sessions all over Europe.

Anticipating Vienna 2012

After many Austrian EYP-ers enjoyed the EYP Days in Vienna, Graz, and Villach, EYP Austria is looking forward to Vienna 2012, the 13th National Conference. The call for schools and delegates is open until 18. February, and so is the call for members of the press team. A promising international chairs team has been selected and the final versions of the topics are being proofread and confirmed and will be published in a few days.

Meanwhile, the organisers are very busy with preparations for the session. We are also working hard on realising a session that is as green as possible. Transportation will play a big role before, during and after the session, and also our venues were chosen with the environment in mind.
Finally, we are especially happy to announce that the session is being supported by the Youth in Action program me.

EYP Day Villach 2012

This year‘s round of the Austrian EYP Days was concluded by yet another great session on Friday, the 3rd of February at the BG/BRG St. Martin in Villach. Around 40 delegates from Austria and Germany were introduced to EYP and the usual components of an EYP session. Together with their international chairs, presided by Franziska Maier (DE), the delegates moved from Teambuilding to Committee Work until they arrived at the General Assembly, where lively discussions about current political issues were engaged in.
Furthermore, the mayor of Villach, Helmut Manzenreiter, showed his enthusiasm for European topics and the EYP by holding a speech during the session‘s opening ceremony and answering political questions of the participants.
All these and many more memorable moments of this session were captured by the ORF and the session press team, which has composed a session paper.

Motivated by the success of the EYP days in Vienna, Graz and Villach the EYP Austria is eager to keep on giving young people from all over Europe more opportunities to participate in such events.

EYP Day Graz 2012

On 27. January EYP officials came together in Graz for the EYP Day in Graz. Over 50 Delegates had their very first EYP experience and discussed interesting topics, such as criminal databases and the promotion of nuclear energy. The teambuilding and committee work were conducted by 10 chairpersons, presided over by Teresa Stadler (AT). The general assembly was refreshingly vivid and the results of the debates were gratifying.

After a brilliant EYP Day in Graz, we certainly hope to see everyone again at future EYP events!

PS.: We can’t wait for the EYP Day in Villach in a few days.

EYP Day Vienna, December 2011

The first EYP Day of the school year2011/2012 took place at St. Ursula School in Vienna on December 16th, 2011. More than 45 delegates met for the day to get a taste of the EYP experience. In six committees, they discussed solutions for relevant political topics, such as nuclear energy, the education of special needs children, or the Arab Spring.
With a chairs team consisting of Austrian, Hungarian, German, and Slovak chairs, the session was truly a European experience. It was presided by Sebastian Hosu, who kept the session upbeat with his legendary sense of humour.
During the General Assembly, the interesting discussions were held very passionately, proving that the delegates can meet the high standards expected at EYP sessions, and we hope to see them at the National Selection Conference in April!
