Jugendkampagne zur Europawahl – jetzt bewerben!

Hast du eine Leidenschaft für Demokratie und die EU? Du willst unsere gemeinsame Zukunft mitgestalten? Findest du es wichtig, dass junge Menschen wählen gehen? Dann ist dies die Gelegenheit für Dich! 

Wir suchen 2 Freiwillige, die die Rolle von Changemakern für unser neues Projekt zur Europawahl namens „Stand For More in 24“ übernehmen. Der Zweck dieses Projekts und die Rolle der Changemaker besteht darin, das Bewusstsein, die Begeisterung sowie das Verständnis junger Menschen vor den Europawahlen im Jahr 2024 zu steigern. 

Schauen dir die vorherigen EYCA-Projekte an, um ein Gefühl dafür zu bekommen, wie diese Kampagne aussehen wird: Give a vote (für die Europawahlen 2019) und #StandForSomething (im Rahmen der Konferenz zur Zukunft Europas). Du kannst dir auch den gemeinsamen Instagram-Account für diese Projekte ansehen. 

Was werden die Changemaker tun?

  • Organisation von zwei Veranstaltungen im Zusammenhang mit der Europawahlen. Eine Veranstaltung als informelles und unterhaltsames treffen. Hier konzentrieren wir uns drauf, das Interesse der Menschen an den EU-Wahlen zu wecken. Das zweite Event wird eine Debatte zwischen Kandidaten und jungen Wähler:innen sein. 
  • Europaweit werden insgesamt 50 Changemaker ausgewählt. Ihr werdet jeweils an euren eigenen Veranstaltungen arbeiten aber sehrwohl auch Kooperationen mit den anderen Ländern durchführen. 
  • Du nimmst vom 24. bis 28. Juli 2023 an einem Treffen in Turin, teil (alle Kosten werden übernommen) um dich mit dem Projekt, der EU und den Europawahlen vertraut zu machen. Außerdem lernst du die anderen Changemaker kennen und tauschst dich mit ihnen aus. Während des gesamten Projekts werden auch OnlineSchulungen organisiert, um dir Fähigkeiten und Kenntnisse zu vermitteln: Medienund Kommunikationskentnisse; aber auch wie man mit den EU-Institutionen zusammenarbeitet; die Wissenschaft hinter der Abstimmung; usw. 
  • Vor allem gestaltest du die europäische Demokratie mit. Du wirst Hunderte von jungen Wähler:innen erreichen, um sie zu begeistern, und du wirst mit Politikerkandidaten für die Europawahlen in Kontakt treten. 

Das solltest du mitbringen: 

  • Du bist zwischen 18 und 23 Jahre alt und lebst in Österreich. 
  • begierig darauf, andere junge Menschen zu erreichen; zuhören und mit ihnen über die Europawahlen sprechen sowie deine Begeisterung für Jugendbeteiligung zu teilen. 
  • Gute Englischkenntnisse (um mit den anderen Changemakern in ganz Europa zu sprechen). 
  • Engagiere dich von Juli 2023 bis Mai 2024 für das Projekt. Du wirst natürlich nicht jeden Tag beschäftigt sein, aber du solltest die Zeit haben, zur Organisation von Aktivitäten beizutragen und an anderen Veranstaltungen teilzunehmen. 
  • Verfügbar vom 24. bis 28. Juli 2023, um am Auftakttraining in Turin, Italien, teilzunehmen. Es ist wichtig, dass alle Changemaker bei diesem Treffen anwesend sind, da wir hier alles notwendige über die Kampagne erklären werden. 
  • Freue dich darauf, sich an der Gestaltung der europäischen Demokratie zu beteiligen. Vorkenntnisse sind keine Voraussetzung; Dein Enthusiasmus und deine Einsatzbereitschaft zählen!

  • Schritt 2 Lade das Video auf YouTube hoch (wir empfehlen, das Video als nicht gelistet einzustellen, damit nur Personen mit Zugriff auf Ihren Link es ansehen können). 

Schritt 3 Fülle dieses Bewerbungsformular aus und vergiss nicht, den YouTube-Link bis Sonntag, den 30. April 2023, um 23:59 Uhr MEZ hinzuzufügen. Eine Antwort gibt es dann innerhalb weniger Wochen.

Call for Head-Organisers | Members Weekend 2023

We are happy to hereby open our Call for one or two motivated individuals to head-organise EYP Austria’s Members Weekend 2023!

EYP Austria’s Members Weekend 2023 will be our most important training event of the academic year, bringing together members from all generations for a weekend of training and socialising – and we are looking for one or two Head-Organisers to take charge of putting together an unforgettable weekend for our members. 

Head-Organising an event is a challenging, demanding and incredibly rewarding task. It gives you the chance to give an event your own personal note by shaping it from the very beginning. Tasks of future Head-Organisers include fundraising money for the event to take place, finding and booking venues, publishing calls and information about the event and leading a team of Organisers. Head-Organisers will be supported by and work together closely with the Board of EYP Austria.

Members Abroad – 21 March, 2023

Delegates Abroad

Our Austrian Delegation consisting of Chiara Auer, Elena Hammer, Elena Macura, Elisabeth Bazil, Katharina Brun, Mauro Baumann and Simon Gartner represented EYP Austria at the 98th International Session of the European Youth Parliament in Tromsø. Read some of their insights below: 

“At the 98th International Session in Tromsø, Norway we got to explore the Arctic, quite literally as well as in an academic sense but the session meant so much more than that to me. I got to see a few of my oldest EYP-Friends in a session setting again which made me unbelievable happy! It was a dream exploring the coldness of Tromso with them. Especially the culture day where my Friends and me all randomly got allocated to the same activity. Our culture day activity was sledding which we thought would be sitting on sleds that are being pulled by dogs or reindeers. At the activity they handed out plastic boards which we could slide down a hill with. This seemed extremely sketchy and disappointing to us at first but it turned out be one of the highlights of the session. Not only did we fall into the snow multiple times (not only while sledding though) but we also get to see the northern Lights. On one evening in particular everyone at the session ran around and tried seeing them from the best angle. After appreciating them for approximately 15 minutes while it was freezing outside we ran back to our cabins to continue drinking tea to warm us up and talk about anything and everything.”

“My time in Tromsø was short but breathtaking and absolutely incredible! I was part of the PECH committee on fisheries and we worked hard to find ways to make fishing more sustainable and efficient while also keeping in mind to respect and protect indigenous fishing practices. The arctic capital Tromsø itself was beautiful in every way, we even got to see the northern lights! Sharing these beautiful memories with other delegates from all across Europe makes it all the more amazing! Personally, one of my favourites moments at the session was the eurovillage, where we could all share a little piece of our culture with each other and have fun together all evening.”

Officials Abroad

Saskia Glasenhart will be representing EYP Austria as Vice-President at the Regional Session of EYP Switzerland in Zürich. We wish her all the best, a comfortable journey and an insightful session. 

Emily Usner, the President of EYP Austria, will be representing our National Committee  at the Spring BNC Meeting in Berlin next week. We hope her travels will be without delays, an enjoyable time in Berlin with fellow NC representatives and are already looking forward to her insights about this renowned event of the EYP network.

Power to the People Konferenz Wien – Gegenkonferenz zur European Gas Conference

Klimakatastrophe, steigende Energie- und Lebenskosten oder Krieg in der Ukraine und Kurdistan – was wir brauchen, sind kollektive Antworten auf die Krisen, die sich auf unser aller Leben auswirken. Trotzdem kommen weiterhin Unternehmen, Finanzinstitute und Politiker*innen zusammen, um ohne die Beteiligung und Mitsprache von Betroffenen strategische Richtungsentscheidungen zu treffen. Im Zentrum ihrer Krisenbearbeitung stehen Profitsteigerung und Machtausbau. 

Von 27. bis 29. März 2023 treffen sich auf Einladung der OMV bei der European Gas Conference genau solche Akteur*innen in Wien, um über die Zukunft der europäischen Energieversorgung zu entscheiden. Mit dabei sind all jene großen Gaskonzerne, die aktuell Rekordgewinne einfahren, während sich viele Menschen das Leben nicht mehr leisten können.

Wir werden nicht länger zuschauen, wie Konzerne und Regierungen die Zukunft verbrennen und uns in die nächste Krise stürzen! Die gemeinsamen Ursachen für Inflation, Klimakrise, Energiekrise und Krieg sind offensichtlich: ein auf Profit ausgerichtetes System, das Mensch und Natur ausbeutet. Krisen haben System. Dem setzen wir etwas entgegen!

Vom 24. bis 26. März 2023 findet die Power to the People Konferenz in Wien statt.

Wir wollen die Energieversorgung und Entscheidungen darüber endlich in die Hände der Vielen holen. Wir wollen demokratische Prozesse, eine klimagerechte Welt und das Ende von Kriegen. Unser Leben muss wieder leistbar werden und die Grundversorgung gesichert sein.

All das ist möglich! Es gibt genügend Ideen, Konzepte und gelebte Praktiken, wie eine andere Welt aussehen kann. Genau darüber wollen wir uns von 24. bis 26. März austauschen und diskutieren. Wir laden alle dazu ein, deren Ziel eine in solidarische, gerechte und emanzipatorische Welt ist.

In den drei Tagen erwartet euch ein Programm mit vielfältigen Workshops, Podiumsdiskussionen, Filmscreenings und vielen weiteren Formaten mit internationalen Teilnehmer*innen und Referent*innen. Für Anmeldung, Program und weitere Informationen klickt hier!

Project Access

Have you ever thought about applying to Cambridge, Harvard, ETH or another international top university? If so, Project Access is there to help you. 

We are a group of students at such universities and offer support to everybody, who thinks about applying themselves, for free. For example, we offer a 1 to 1 peer tutoring program where you can sign up to get a mentor who helps you throughout the application process. 

Our yearly highlight is the Bootcamp, a four day event in summer, where we will teach you everything you need to know about the application processes at international universities. In- and outside the seminars there will be enough time for you to ask all your questions and talk to us about our personal experiences. There will be groups focusing on undergraduate as well as postgraduate applications, so no matter which degree you want to apply for, the Bootcamp is a one of a kind opportunity to learn the necessary skills and meet likeminded people, and it is completely free.

As the democratic cornerstone of our organisation, It will include the elections for Board Members, Advisory Board Members and Auditors for the 2023/24 term and thereby have a significant impact on the organisation for the upcoming year. Therefore we encourage all members to mark it in their calendars already!

Physical Board Meeting #5

During each board term, the Board of EYP Austria meets several times to discuss important matters in person, with the Advisory Board also typically attending to some degree for guidance. On the 11 and 12 March the Board held its fifth Physical Board Meeting (PBM) in Vienna.

As with all PBMs, a report has been compiled to inform our Members of the subjects that were discussed, as well as the results of modules that will have a concrete impact on the organisation. Most notably, the Board Members talked through the National Strategy 2021-25 to filter out what still needs to be done to fulfill open measures, compiled the Lessons Learned from the RS Vienna 2023 and spent some time talking about motivation, giving feedback and preparing for the upcoming months.
