PBM#2 Report

During each board term, the Board of EYP Austria meets several times to discuss important matters in person, with the Advisory Board also typically attending to some degree for guidance. Last weekend, the Board had its second “Physical Board Meeting” (PBM), this time in a digital format.

As with all PBMs, a report has been compiled to inform our Members of the subjects talked about there, as well as the results of modules that will have a concrete impact on the organisation. So make sure to check out the report of PBM#2 to get an insight into the happenings of the Board and EYP Austria at large! Most notably, the Board identified to-dos in line with our National Strategy, discussed the sharing of responsibilities surrounding our National Session Vienna 2022, made plans to bring this year’s guiding value “Mehrwert” to fruition, and deliberated on the cooperation with our upcoming sessions and their Head-Organisers.

AntiFakeNews.training | 22 November

During the AntiFakeNews.training with the Hoaxilla podcast from Hamburg, you can find out how to recognise fake news and how to protect yourself and your friends from it. This means figuring out how fake news is built up and how it spreads so quickly.

Hoaxilla is a podcast by the European Ethnologist Alexa Waschkau and psychologist Alexander Waschkau, both of whom have been working on modern legends, conspiracy myths and pseudoscience for almost 11 years.

The next training date for pupils, students and apprentices is 22 November, 19:30 CET. Registration is mandatory, so make sure to sign up!

Surfrider Eurocean’s Youth

Surfrider Foundation Europe is launching a Call for the Ocean to create a network of European ambassadors for the maritime world and will recruit 120 young Europeans from all EU Member States.

Women, men, sailors and neophytes will be trained and put in contact with experts on these two topics: shipping and jobs related to the sea. They will create a maritime network and develop a vision of the maritime world’s future during high-ranking events in 2022 (UN Ocean Conference, World Ocean Day, Ocean Decade Activity in the framework of the Ocean Decade launched by UNESCO, European Maritime Day…).

The network will meet during an immersive week with cultural exchange and experiments in La Rochelle, France, in February 2022. This week will be fully organised and covered by Surfrider Europe in collaboration with the French Ministry of the Sea and the municipality of La Rochelle.

With some Austrian candidates missing, you can still apply to become an ambassador. Find out more here.

Flipchart Workshop | 11 November

This workshop hosted by JEF Styria is about making flipcharts more original and lively, regardless of individual drawing skills. The program includes visualisation approaches with moderation cards, crayons, pencils and flipchart sketches as an alternative to digital presentation tools and how to sketch content quickly and understandably.

It will take place on 11 November from 17:00 to 20:00 at Steiermarkhof in Graz (Ekkehard-Hauer-Straße 33). The number of participants is limited, so if you are interested, make sure to register!

European Year of Youth Survey

Following the announcement made by President von der Leyen in her 2021 State of the Union address, the Commission has adopted its formal proposal to make 2022 the European Year of Youth. The year will include a series of events and activities for young people. The idea is to boost the efforts of the European Union, European Member States, regional and local authorities in recognising youth’s efforts during the pandemic and supporting and engaging with young people as we emerge from it.

Now the Commission wants to hear your expectations, interests, and ideas for the European Year of Youth. To make your voice heard in the preparation of activities, you can participate in this survey.
