Delegates Abroad

In the last week Members of EYP Austria attended various sessions abroad, here you can read their experiences: 

The time at the Iberian Forum 2022 was one of the coolest I’ve ever had.  During this week I got to know new people, cultures and opinions.  It was important for me to take an active part in political events in Europe. Not only have my English skills improved, but also my communication skills.  For me, it was never about passing our resolution at the GA, but about spending time with my new friends and gaining new experiences for my life. The more we got together, asking ourselves about questions of modern problems and finding new possible solutions to them, the more familiar it became.  Nevertheless, the short time was one of my most important, because during this time I was able to learn that humanity, brotherhood and communication with others can take us so far.  I realised that we need to get closer and face each other as a team, objectively, peacefully and respectfully.  This time was unforgettable for me and I hope to be able to attend a new session again soon.

The Iberian Forum 2022 was an event that will stay in our minds forever. Held in two cities and countries, Vigo (Spain) and Braga (Portugal), it truly was an event to be held. Teambuilding was fun as always and not short of pedestrians that looked at us like we were crazy. In the evening of the first day of Teambuilding we had an activity called Eurovillage. Every delegate was required to bring items, clothes and food representing their country and region of origin. There you would be able to taste the entirety of Europe. From the delicious desserts of Portugal up to the best Wines of Georgia. This was one of the highlights, in my opinion.

Of course, there is no session/forum without the academic’s part. The forum offered a wide range of topics, from taxes up until formula 1. Time went by so fast. As the forum was coming to an end, and the closing ceremony was held, it became more and more clear that it was time to say goodbye. A goodbye that was not easy. I will forever remember the long nights, where we stayed out at a park and played cards and talked for hours. I will always remember the transfer day from Vigo to Braga where we had the afternoon off to look at the city and have committee dinner.

As we said our goodbyes (some of us in tears, definitely not me) I started to reflect on what an amazing experience this was and what amazing friends I had made through the course of one week. I hope we will all be able to see these friends again one day.

The 18th National Selection Conference of EYP Poland in Krakow was a special experience to me. I met new people, experienced the local culture and – most importantly – developed myself massively, be it academically as well as culturally and socially. I am thankful for the opportunity EYP Austria has once again given me and am looking forward to my next sessions.

The Ljubljana Session was one of the best I haver ever experienced. It was so much fun to meet so many intelligent and humorous people from all over Europe and discuss current topics. I am glad that I had the opportunity and I will forever keep the memories I have made there.

Officials Abroad

This week the President of EYP Austria, Emily Usner, is going to represent our NC as Head of Jury at the National Selection Conference of EYP Switzerland in Basel. Lea Speringer will join the session as part of the Organising Team and Theo Lankov will take up the position of Chairperson. We wish them all the best and hope they will make some unforgettable memories. 

Elena Szegedi has attended the Summer Academy as representative of our National Committee. You can read about her insights here: 

 “The Summer Academy is the biggest training event in the EYP network for Board Members from all National Committees. This year was the first time since 2019 that this event was held in person again and I had the opportunity to participate in modules throughout the course of four days. All of those helped me to better understand the responsibility connected to the position of being a Board Member. I was able to take away lessons for fundraising, international governance, legal aspects, decision-making and got to know useful digital tools. However, knowledge transfer between NCs is seen as one of the most important aspects of the Summer Academy as well as bringing the training contents back home to their NC.

As a Board Member for International Coordination it was especially insightful for me to learn about policies and general approaches from other National Committees. Networking helped me in getting to know the other representatives, enhancing our international connection and thereby our future cooperation. I met enthusiastic, engaged and highly motivated people who invest their time shaping our network of young Europeans. I am looking forward to meeting some of my inspiring colleagues soon at the Autumn BNC Meeting in Berlin.”
