It’s time for the first Jour Fixe in the New Year: the January/February Jour Fixe!
Monday, 18.30 CET, January 30th, 2012
(ring the doorbell at „Europa Organisationen“ )
Why should I come?
Jours Fixes are an important part of EYP Austria – all members are invited to meet regularly to talk about what is happening within our organisation and the world of EYP. Naturally, as an EYP Event, the evening will also involve some socialising afterwards.

The first EYP Day of the school year2011/2012 took place at St. Ursula School in Vienna on December 16th, 2011. More than 45 delegates met for the day to get a taste of the EYP experience. In six committees, they discussed solutions for relevant political topics, such as nuclear energy, the education of special needs children, or the Arab Spring.
With a chairs team consisting of Austrian, Hungarian, German, and Slovak chairs, the session was truly a European experience. It was presided by Sebastian Hosu, who kept the session upbeat with his legendary sense of humour.
During the General Assembly, the interesting discussions were held very passionately, proving that the delegates can meet the high standards expected at EYP sessions, and we hope to see them at the National Selection Conference in April!
After the resignation of our Vice-President and National Coordinator an extraordinary general assembly was held to elect a successor. Mario Pacal and Fabian Sommer ran for the election of this position. In advance their applications were sent out to EYP Austria’s members and each of them had time to present their ideas and visions during the assembly on the 17th Decembre 2011.
As a result of the election the board of EYP Austria would like to welcome its newest member Fabian Sommer as Vice-President and National Coordinator.
Apart from the selection, the programe of the extraordinary general assembly covered a presentation of the EYP Austria’s hoodies, the premiere of the new posters, experiences from the HOs of the EYP Day Vienna, EYP on SKI and much more. Feel free to get the PDF version of the protocol from here.

Actually, head-organisers Teresa Stadler and Ronja Seyrl have started organising the next Austrian National Conference in April this year already. But as it takes more than two to organise an EYP session, they have assembled a team of nine organisers.
On the weekend of the 19./20. November, the organising team gathered in Vienna for some teambuilding and organisers’ training. After a day of Teambuilding near Prater the organising team sat together to get down to and discuss the tough business of organising, from the session concept over fundraising to the venues; the ultimate common goal: giving the very best to provide a high-quality EYP session!
About the session
The Austrian National Conference 2012 will be the Youth Summit on Generations & Integration. The session will take place in Vienna from the 26. to the 30. April 2012. Further information, calls for officials and invitations for schools are to be published soon. Besides the official session logo, we are also proud to announce that Bentley James Yaffe (TR) shall preside the session.
Under the motto ‘Bridge the gap!’, the session’s topics will deal with integration (immigration, etc.) issues as well as multiple generations, inspired by 2012 as the European year for active ageing (…and solidarity between generations).
On November 2nd a few EYP Austria members left the country for two hours and visited the United Nations Office in Vienna, which we learned, actually is not in Austria, but set on international territory. After passing a thorough security check we enjoyed a guided tour through some of the main parts of the UN buildings. Following the tour we had a presentation on the UN Millennium Development Goals stating the main facts from the UN 2011 Millennium Development Report launched previous July. To round this off we indulged in a lively discussion with the UN employee giving the presentation, covering our questions and remarks concerning the UNO and its interesting work.

Furniture? ‘Chair’ is short for chairperson, and in EYP these people play a crucial role. They are responsblible for a committee at sessions and their position implies leading the committee through the various parts of an EYP session, moderate the discussions and help bringing out the best of every individual delegate.
